Our topic this year is Ancient Egypt. So far we have learnt about Howard Carter and his discovery in the Valley of Kings. We have also learnt that the Ancient Egyptians believed in the "afterlife" and built great pyramids to bury their Pharaohs in.

The children had to work as a group to decide how to sort different 2D and 3D shapes. Some chose to sort by shape, others colour and one table sorted into 2D and 3D shapes.

The children in year 4 have been learning about St George, they then spent the afternoon writing about him, drawing their own dragon, using coordinates to draw a dragon (which was very hard) or writing a persuasive argument as to why we should have a National Holiday to celebrate him.

Our new topic is all about the Ancient Egyptians, we have been learning about where the Egyptians lived and the importance of the River Nile as well as using our computer skills to research Tutankhamun.

Today the children generated questions that they wanted to research about WW2. Using search engines the children became fact finders and made notes on uniform, transport, Hitler and why the War started.

Congratulations to everyone in Year 3 and 4 on the fantastic performance of Hansel and Gretel. All the adults in the Year 3/4 team are feeling really proud, the singing was excellent, the acting brilliant and all the children were amazing - well done everyone!
